The shortest way to combine Egypt's highlights with the eclipse. After the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, you sail the Nile from Aswan to Luxor. Your ship arrives in Luxor the day before and stays docked there on Monday 2 August 2027, so eclipse day is calm, with nowhere to rush to. Your group is met inside Cairo International Airport by our representative with a group sign, and helped through visa and passport control. Private coach to your hotel near the Pyramids. Evening briefing with your tour manager on the week ahead and on eclipse day.

Flexible Upper Egypt travel — how we protect your eclipse
Domestic seats in and out of Luxor around 2 August 2027 will be the hardest travel to find in Egypt, so each Upper Egypt leg below has a confirmed alternative. Travellers in the same group can arrive and leave on different days, stay on in Luxor, or fly home from Luxor or Hurghada instead of Cairo.

Bank transfer or card (Visa, Mastercard). USD, EUR and GBP accepted. Hotels, Nile cruises and domestic transport for August 2027 are paid to suppliers months in advance, which is why eclipse terms differ from our standard terms.

- Name changes: free until 30 days before arrival; a replacement traveller keeps the full value of the booking.
- Domestic flights and train tickets: once issued, they follow the carrier's rules and are non-refundable.
- Weather and access: the eclipse cannot be guaranteed against cloud, and changes to monument access ordered by the authorities on eclipse day are not grounds for a refund. Affected visits are rescheduled.
- All cancellations must be sent in writing to [email protected]. Travel insurance with cancellation cover is strongly recommended.
Eclipse day: good to know
- Times are approximate: the partial phase begins at about 11:40, totality at about 13:02 for more than six minutes, and the partial phase ends at about 14:26 (Luxor local time).
- Your tour manager chooses where the group watches on the day, on board or ashore in Luxor, according to conditions.
- Never look at the Sun without certified solar eclipse glasses (ISO 12312-2), except during totality itself. Bring your own or ask us when you book.
- Early August in Luxor is hot, around 40 °C at midday: bring light clothing, a hat and sunscreen, and drink plenty of water.
Entrance tickets and visa
All entrance fees listed in the itinerary are included. The Tomb of Tutankhamun (KV62) needs a separate ticket (about $40 per person). Optional excursions are agreed at booking. The Egypt visa (about $36 per person) is not included. On eclipse day, access to some monuments may be restricted by the authorities; any affected visit is rescheduled.
