Frequent Asked Questions

When and where is the 2027 eclipse in Egypt?

On Monday 2 August 2027. Luxor is close to the centre of the path, with about 6 minutes 19 seconds of totality and maximum eclipse at around 13:02 local time.

Why is Luxor one of the best places to watch it?

Totality in Luxor lasts over six minutes, among the longest anywhere on the path, and August skies in Upper Egypt are almost always clear. You also have the temples of Karnak and the Valley of the Kings around you.

How hot is Luxor in early August?

Expect around 40 °C at midday. Our eclipse programmes plan sightseeing early in the morning, and we advise light clothing, a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water.

Are the eclipse tours private or group tours?

Our eclipse tour packages are group departures joined by individual travellers, couples and families. Private versions and private charters for groups are available on request.

When will I know my hotel and cruise ship?

Hotels and ships are confirmed by name when we confirm your booking, according to availability for eclipse week.

What happens if it is cloudy?

The programme runs as planned. Clouds are rare in Luxor in August, but the weather cannot be guaranteed and is not a reason for refund. We recommend travel insurance.
