Steigenberger Regency Nile Cruise 2026 — Review, Itinerary & Prices | Jacuzzi on Deck | Bathtub in All Cabins | Two-Level Sun Deck | Library | from $799
Overview
Bottom line: The Steigenberger Regency is a 5-star deluxe Nile cruise operated by the JAZ Hotel Group under the prestigious Steigenberger brand — one of Germany’s most respected hotel and resort names, synonymous with consistently high hospitality standards across Europe and the Middle East. Built in 1992 and fully renovated at the end of 2018, the Regency carries 50 standard cabins and 2 front-of-ship balcony suites, and offers a two-level sun deck with both a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi on deck — a combination rarely found at $799. All 50 standard cabins are equipped with both a bathtub AND a separate shower — unusual at this price tier where most ships offer shower only. The library, spa, gym, beauty salon, and second sun deck level with shaded loungers complete a facilities list that punches well above its price point. For travelers who want the Steigenberger name and standards at $799 on the Saturday/Wednesday departure schedule, the Regency is the definitive choice.

Is the Steigenberger Regency Worth It?
Yes — especially for travelers who specifically want a Jacuzzi on deck, a bathtub in every standard cabin, and a library at the $799 price point. These three features in combination are genuinely rare at this price on the Nile. The Steigenberger brand — owned by the German Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts group — brings a specific character to the Regency experience: neutral, tasteful cabin decoration, well-maintained spaces, a quiet and considered atmosphere, and attentive service without being intrusive. The 2 balcony suites at the bow of the ship — positioned to see the Nile ahead as the ship moves south — are among the most romantically positioned suite options in Egypt For Travel’s fleet at $799. The two-level sun deck gives significantly more outdoor space per passenger than single-deck ships at this price. Afternoon tea with snacks included daily alongside full board — a small detail that signals the Steigenberger Regency’s hotel-level attention to guest comfort at $799.
Who Is the Steigenberger Regency Best For?
- Travelers who want both a Jacuzzi and a bathtub in their standard cabin at $799 — the Steigenberger Regency is one of the very few ships at this price point where standard cabins include bathtub AND separate shower and the sun deck includes a Jacuzzi. Most ships at $799 offer shower only in standard cabins and do not have a dedicated Jacuzzi on deck. For guests who specifically want to soak in a bathtub in their cabin and access a Jacuzzi on the sun deck, the Regency is the best option at $799 on the Saturday/Wednesday schedule.
- Steigenberger brand loyalists who have stayed in Steigenberger hotels in Germany, Switzerland, Egypt, or the Gulf and trust the brand’s hospitality standards. The Regency operates under the same Steigenberger brand through the JAZ Hotel Group and brings the same considered, quiet, European-character atmosphere to the Nile cruise experience at $799.
- Readers and reflective travelers who appreciate a library on board. The library signals the Regency’s character: a ship designed for guests who want a quieter, more contemplative cruise experience. At $799, the library is a feature rarely found — and its presence shapes the atmosphere of the entire ship.
- Couples wanting the front balcony suite at $799 — the 2 balcony suites at the bow of the Steigenberger Regency on the middle deck face forward, giving guests a panoramic view of the Nile ahead as the ship moves. This forward-facing suite position is unusual and creates a uniquely cinematic Nile experience at $799.
- Saturday/Wednesday departure travelers who want the top-quality Steigenberger option on that schedule.
Who Should NOT Book the Steigenberger Regency?
- The Steigenberger Regency has no lift (elevator). All decks are accessed by stairs only. This makes it unsuitable for guests with significant mobility limitations, knee or hip problems. If a lift is essential, Egypt For Travel recommends the Steigenberger Minerva ($749, Mon/Fri), which has an elevator. Please confirm mobility requirements at booking.
- If Thursday/Monday departures are required, the JAZ Imperial ($679, Thu/Mon) or the Steigenberger Minerva ($749, Mon/Fri) are alternatives on different schedules.
- If a very lively entertainment programme with nightly Galabia party, disco, and belly dancing every evening is the priority, the Regency’s quieter, more European atmosphere may disappoint. The Moon Dance ($699, Sat/Wed) has a more active entertainment atmosphere on the same Saturday/Wednesday schedule at a lower price.
Egypt For Travel Expert Assessment
“The Regency has a specific character that our clients either love immediately or discover they love on Day 2. It is quieter, more considered, more European in atmosphere than most Nile cruise ships at this price. The bathtub plus shower in every standard cabin is genuinely unusual at $799 — most ships give you shower only. The Jacuzzi on the two-level deck is a real Jacuzzi, not a small splash pool. The library is a small detail but it signals the kind of ship this is: one where the operator has thought about what a certain type of traveler wants. For clients who want Steigenberger quality, Jacuzzi access, a bathtub in their room, and a Saturday departure — there is simply no better option at $799.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Steigenberger Regency have a Jacuzzi?
Yes — the Steigenberger Regency has a Jacuzzi on the sun deck, in addition to a swimming pool with pool bar. The Jacuzzi is located on the upper level of the two-level sun deck, alongside fitness equipment. This combination of Jacuzzi + swimming pool + two-level deck is one of the strongest outdoor leisure packages at $799 in Egypt For Travel’s Saturday/Wednesday fleet. The Jacuzzi is available to all guests without additional charge. The lower level of the sun deck provides shaded loungers and chairs for guests who want to be outdoors but sheltered from direct sun between excursions.
Do all standard cabins on the Steigenberger Regency have bathtubs?
Yes — all 50 standard cabins on the Steigenberger Regency are equipped with both a bathtub and a separate shower, plus a hair dryer. This is unusual at the $799 price point, where most ships offer shower only in standard cabins. Note: the 8 cabins on the lowest deck have fixed windows rather than panoramic sliding windows — all other cabins on the main and upper deck have large panoramic sliding windows. If a sliding-window cabin is important to you, confirm at booking and Egypt For Travel will request a main or upper deck cabin from the ship. Contact WhatsApp +20 155 555 2466.
Is the Steigenberger Regency suitable for elderly travelers or guests with mobility limitations?
With caution — the Steigenberger Regency has no lift (elevator). All decks are accessed by stairs only. For guests with significant mobility limitations, knee or hip problems, this is an important consideration before booking. The stairs are well-maintained and not steep, but they do require full use of both legs for every deck change. If a lift is essential, Egypt For Travel recommends the Steigenberger Minerva ($749, Mon/Fri), which has an elevator. Please confirm mobility requirements at booking so Egypt For Travel can match you to the most suitable ship: WhatsApp +20 155 555 2466 or email [email protected].
How does the Steigenberger Regency compare to other Saturday/Wednesday ships?
The Steigenberger Regency ($799, Sat/Wed) sits on the same Saturday/Wednesday schedule as the Moon Dance ($699) and the MS Esplanade ($999). Choose the Steigenberger Regency ($799, Sat/Wed) if: the Steigenberger brand, Jacuzzi on deck, bathtub in all standard cabins, library, two-level sun deck, and quiet European atmosphere are the priorities at $799. Choose the Moon Dance ($699, Sat/Wed) if: a $100 saving over the Regency, a more lively entertainment atmosphere, and a lift (elevator) are priorities over brand prestige and the bathtub-in-every-cabin feature. Choose the MS Esplanade ($999, Sat/Wed) if: the Saturday flagship ship with aromatherapy spa, opening windows in all cabins, and a first-aid clinic are worth $200 more than the Regency. Why the Steigenberger Regency’s Two-Level Sun Deck Matters
On a single-level sun deck ship, the pool, the sun loungers, and the deck bar share the same surface. At peak times — mid-morning before excursions depart, or mid-afternoon after guests return — the single deck becomes congested and the atmosphere shifts from relaxing to crowded. The Steigenberger Regency’s two-level sun deck solves this by giving guests two separate outdoor environments on the same ship. The upper level holds the Jacuzzi and fitness equipment — an active, energized space for guests who want to use the water facilities or exercise with a Nile view. The lower level holds the shaded loungers and chairs — a calm, sheltered space for reading, napping, or simply watching the Nile landscape move past in the afternoon heat. The two levels mean guests who want silence on the lower deck are separated from activity on the upper deck. At $799, this two-level design gives the Steigenberger Regency significantly more usable per-passenger outdoor space than the single-deck ships at similar price points on the Saturday/Wednesday schedule. The pool with pool bar sits at deck level and creates a natural social centre that both levels orbit around. For guests who spend as much time on deck between temples as on excursions, the two-level design of the Steigenberger Regency is one of its most consistently appreciated features.

About the Steigenberger Regency
The Steigenberger Regency is a 5-star deluxe Nile cruise ship operated by the JAZ Hotel Group under the Steigenberger brand, departing every Saturday from Luxor and every Wednesday from Aswan. Built in 1992 and fully renovated at the end of 2018, the ship carries 50 standard cabins and 2 front-of-ship balcony suites. Its signature features include a Jacuzzi on the upper level of the two-level sun deck, bathtub AND separate shower in all 50 standard cabins, a library, a single-sitting restaurant, a swimming pool with pool bar, spa, massage area, fitness gym, beauty salon, gift shop, panorama bar, and a fireplace in the lounge. The 2 balcony suites at the bow offer a panoramic forward view of the Nile. Important: the Steigenberger Regency has no lift — all decks are accessed by stairs only. Egypt For Travel holds Egyptian Tourism Authority Licence Category A No. 1947 and has operated Nile cruise bookings since 2010. All Steigenberger Regency cruises are operated directly, not subcontracted, at $799 on the Saturday/Wednesday schedule.
Why the Steigenberger Regency’s Bathtub in Every Cabin Matters
At the $799 price point on the Nile, the standard for most ships is shower-only bathrooms in all standard cabins. A bathtub is treated as a suite-level amenity — something you pay extra for. The Steigenberger Regency reverses this: every single one of its 50 standard cabins includes a private bathtub AND a separate shower as standard, with no upgrade required. For guests who find a full bathtub important for comfort — particularly after a long day on dusty temple sites in Luxor and Aswan heat — the ability to soak in a full bathtub in a standard cabin at $799 on the Nile is a specific and meaningful luxury. The bathtub is not a compromise: it sits alongside a separate, full-size shower. Guests have both. This is not common in the fleet at $799 and is one of the Steigenberger Regency’s most consistently appreciated features by guests returning from their cruise.
Steigenberger Regency Prices
All Steigenberger Regency rates are quoted in US dollars per person per trip and start from $799. Payments are also accepted in Euro (EUR) and British Pounds (GBP) at the current exchange rate. Prices vary between summer (May–September) and winter (October–April) seasons. A 50% deposit applies for Christmas, New Year, and Easter departures.
