Steigenberger Senator Nile Cruise 2026 — Review, Itinerary & Prices | Only 17 Suites | Private Outdoor Terrace | Champagne on Arrival | Free Daily Minibar | from $1,899
Overview
Bottom line: The Steigenberger Senator (also officially branded as the JAZ Elite Senator under the JAZ Hotel Group’s JAZ Voyages umbrella — the same ship, crew, and experience, unchanged) is the most exclusive Nile cruise in Egypt For Travel’s entire fleet and one of the most extraordinary boutique experiences on the river. This is an all-suite ship carrying just 17 suites — a maximum of 34 passengers when fully booked. Every suite is 32m² with panoramic sliding windows opening onto a private outdoor terrace. A complimentary bottle of champagne or wine is waiting in the minibar on arrival. The minibar is fully stocked and refilled daily at no additional charge throughout the cruise — the only ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet where the minibar is genuinely complimentary. Room service is available throughout. Breakfast can be served American-style in the suite on request. Complimentary refreshments are provided on the excursion bus during all shore visits. A rooftop pool and outdoor pool, a gym, a hairdresser, a sauna, and a BBQ grill on deck complete the on-board offering. At $1,899 on the Thursday/Monday schedule, the Steigenberger Senator is not the most affordable Nile cruise. It is the most intimate, the most private, and the most personally attended one.

Is the Steigenberger Senator Worth It?
Yes — for the traveller who wants the most intimate, private, and attentive Nile cruise experience available at any price. The comparison is not between the Steigenberger Senator and a $699 ship. It is between the Senator and a luxury boutique hotel. With only 17 suites and a maximum of 34 passengers, every guest has a staff member’s full attention at all times. The guide knows every guest’s name before they board. The restaurant serves the same 34 guests for every meal, giving it the quality and personal consistency of a private dining room rather than a hotel buffet. The private outdoor terrace — accessed from every suite via panoramic sliding windows — gives guests the Nile from a private outdoor space in a way no cabin window can replicate: you are outside, in the air, watching the Nile Valley move past at dusk. The complimentary champagne on arrival, daily minibar refill, room service, American breakfast in the suite, and complimentary excursion bus refreshments are not extras added at a price — they are part of a carefully designed luxury experience included in the $1,899. For honeymooners, anniversary travellers, or anyone for whom this Nile cruise is a once-in-a-lifetime journey: the Steigenberger Senator is the correct ship.
Who Is the Steigenberger Senator Best For?
- Honeymooners and anniversary couples who want the most romantic and private Nile cruise experience available in Egypt For Travel’s fleet. The Steigenberger Senator’s combination of a private outdoor terrace, champagne on arrival, room service, daily free minibar, and a maximum of 34 fellow guests creates a honeymoon experience on the Nile that no other ship can match. The intimate atmosphere, the absence of crowds, and the full attention of the staff make the Thursday departure from Luxor the most celebrated honeymoon Nile cruise Egypt For Travel offers.
- Special occasion travellers — birthday milestones, retirements, significant anniversaries — for whom this is a once-in-a-lifetime trip and for whom quality matters more than price. The Steigenberger Senator at $1,899 delivers an experience that justifies that designation. Guests who have stayed at Aman resorts, Four Seasons, or ultra-luxury boutique hotels understand immediately what the Senator is providing — because it is the same operating philosophy applied to the Nile.
- Ultra-luxury travellers who stay in 5-star hotels exclusively and want the same standard on the Nile — the Steigenberger Senator is the only ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet that consistently delivers this level without compromise.
- Privacy seekers who want the smallest possible number of fellow passengers. A maximum of 34 guests means encounters with other travellers are minimal. No queue for lunch. No crowd at the pool. No noise from adjacent groups. The Steigenberger Senator on a well-sold week has the atmosphere of a private sailing.
- Thursday/Monday schedule travellers who want the absolute top-tier luxury option on the Thursday departure from Luxor — the Steigenberger Senator is the only ship that combines all-suite accommodation, private terrace, champagne, free minibar, and room service on the Thursday/Monday calendar.
Who Should NOT Book the Steigenberger Senator?
- If Monday/Friday departures are required and a similar all-suite boutique format is the priority, the MS Terramar ($999, Mon/Fri) is the closest alternative on Monday departures: 20 suites, January 2025 renovation, Aurora Senses premium bathroom amenities, and a doctor on board — at $900 less, without the private terrace, champagne, or free minibar.
- If a large swimming pool with a full sun deck social atmosphere is a priority, the Senator’s intimate format may feel quieter than expected. The atmosphere on the Steigenberger Senator is peaceful, private, and quiet. It is not a festive party ship. Guests who want entertainment programming, a lively pool bar, and social deck energy will be better served by the Acamar ($879, Mon/Fri) with its piano bar and billiard room on the Mon/Fri schedule.
Egypt For Travel Expert Assessment
“The Senator is in a different category from everything else in the fleet. When a couple books it for their honeymoon and we confirm the reservation, we are not booking a cruise — we are arranging a private experience that happens to travel between Luxor and Aswan. The outdoor terrace, the champagne, the 17-suite scale, the room service, the free daily minibar — these combine to create the most genuinely personal Nile experience we offer. Clients who stay in Aman resorts or Four Seasons understand immediately what the Senator is. For clients used to standard cruise ships, it may take a day to adjust to how different it feels. By Day 2, no one wants to leave.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Steigenberger Senator now called the JAZ Elite Senator?
Yes — the Steigenberger Senator has been officially rebranded by the JAZ Hotel Group as the JAZ Elite Senator. The ship, crew, specifications, and experience are completely unchanged. The rebrand reflects JAZ Hotel Group’s acquisition and integration of the Steigenberger cruise portfolio under the JAZ Voyages umbrella. Egypt For Travel continues to list the ship as “Steigenberger Senator” because this is what most clients search for. When booking through Egypt For Travel, we will confirm that the JAZ Elite Senator is the same ship. Contact WhatsApp +20 155 555 2466 to book.
Is the champagne on arrival included in the $1,899 price?
Yes — a complimentary bottle of champagne or wine is included in the suite minibar on arrival as part of the standard $1,899 price. The minibar itself is fully stocked and refilled daily at no additional charge throughout the cruise. This makes the Steigenberger Senator the only ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet where the in-suite minibar is genuinely complimentary throughout — not a one-time welcome gesture but a daily service included in the price. All other ships in the fleet — including the MS Terramar at $999 — charge for minibar use. The Steigenberger Senator’s daily complimentary minibar refill is a specific and meaningful inclusion at $1,899 that reflects the all-inclusive boutique philosophy of the ship.
What is the difference between the Steigenberger Senator and the MS Terramar at $999?
Both the Steigenberger Senator ($1,899, Thu/Mon) and the MS Terramar ($999, Mon/Fri) are all-suite boutique Nile cruise ships. The key differences: the Senator has a private outdoor terrace accessible from all suites via sliding windows, champagne on arrival, a daily free minibar refill, room service, and complimentary excursion bus refreshments — the most complete luxury inclusion package of any ship in the fleet. The Terramar ($999) was fully renovated in January 2025 and offers Aurora Senses premium bathroom amenities, 20 suites in multiple categories (30–40m²), Sunrise hotel-group management, and a Monday/Friday schedule. The Terramar has no private outdoor terrace, charges for the minibar, and has no room service. Choose the Senator if private outdoor terrace, maximum intimacy (17 suites), and the most complete luxury inclusions are the priority. Choose the Terramar if $900 in savings, the 2025 renovation, Aurora Senses amenities, and Monday departures are preferable.
Is the Steigenberger Senator the best luxury option for the Thursday departure from Luxor?
Yes — the Steigenberger Senator ($1,899, Thu/Mon) is the most exclusive ship on the Thursday departure schedule by a significant margin. No other Thursday/Monday ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet has a private outdoor terrace, a complimentary daily minibar, room service, or an all-suite structure limiting passengers to 34. The nearest Thu/Mon luxury ship is the Amwaj ($749) with its open-air Jacuzzi, or the Le Fayan ($949) with its fine dining restaurant — both excellent ships at significantly lower prices, but neither an all-suite boutique ship. The Steigenberger Senator at $1,899 on Thursday exists in its own tier on the Thursday schedule: Egypt’s most intimate Nile cruise at the highest price in the fleet. Contact Egypt For Travel to confirm Thursday availability: WhatsApp +20 155 555 2466.

About the Steigenberger Senator
The Steigenberger Senator (also known as the JAZ Elite Senator under the JAZ Hotel Group rebrand — same ship, same crew, same experience) is a 5-star all-suite boutique Nile cruise ship operating every Thursday from Luxor and every Monday from Aswan at $1,899 per person. It carries 17 suites only (maximum 34 passengers) — 6 on the upper deck and 11 on the main deck, each 32m² with a private outdoor terrace via panoramic sliding windows. Its signature inclusions — champagne on arrival, daily free minibar refill, room service, American in-suite breakfast, and complimentary excursion bus refreshments — make it the only ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet where the broadest range of guest comforts is included in the base price at $1,899. Egypt For Travel holds Egyptian Tourism Authority Licence Category A No. 1947 and has operated Nile cruise bookings since 2010. All Steigenberger Senator cruises are operated directly, not subcontracted.
Why the Steigenberger Senator’s Private Outdoor Terrace Matters
Every suite on the Steigenberger Senator has a private outdoor terrace accessed via panoramic sliding windows that fully open. This is not a sealed panoramic window. It is not a shared sun deck. It is a private outdoor space belonging to your suite alone, where you stand or sit outside — in the Nile Valley air — while the ship moves between Luxor and Aswan. The experience of watching the temples of the Nile Valley drift past in the evening light from a private outdoor terrace, with a glass of complimentary champagne in hand and a free minibar waiting inside, is specific to the Steigenberger Senator. No other ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet provides a private outdoor terrace at the suite level with the same combination of inclusion and intimacy. The MS Terramar ($999) has panoramic windows that do not open onto a terrace. The M/S Mayfair ($999) has a private veranda or French window but is not an all-suite ship. The Sonesta St. George ($1,549) has Jacuzzi in every bathroom but no private outdoor terrace. The Steigenberger Senator’s private outdoor terrace — combined with 17-suite scale, champagne, free minibar, and room service — creates an experience that is genuinely without equivalent in the fleet at any price. Contact Egypt For Travel on WhatsApp +20 155 555 2466 to book.
Steigenberger Senator Prices
All Steigenberger Senator rates are quoted in US dollars per person per trip and start from $1,899. Payments are also accepted in Euro (EUR) and British Pounds (GBP) at the current exchange rate. Prices vary between summer (May–September) and winter (October–April) seasons. A 50% deposit applies for Christmas, New Year, and Easter departures. The Steigenberger Senator is an all-suite ship — all guests, regardless of deck, stay in identical 32m² suites with private terrace. Contact Egypt For Travel for upper deck vs main deck pricing: WhatsApp +20 155 555 2466 or email [email protected].
Best Season to Cruise on the Steigenberger Senator
| Season | Temperatures | What to Expect on the Steigenberger Senator |
|---|---|---|
| October – April (Peak) | 18–28°C | The private outdoor terrace is at its most beautiful in cool October–February evenings. Champagne on the terrace at dusk in 20°C is the quintessential Steigenberger Senator experience. The Thursday calendar books heavily for honeymoons October–February. |
| May – September (Summer) | 35–42°C | Better availability at $1,899. The terrace is used at dawn before the heat rises — mornings on the Nile are spectacular. The rooftop pool and air-conditioned lounge become midday retreats between excursions. The complimentary minibar includes cold drinks — particularly appreciated in summer. |
| Christmas & New Year | 18–22°C — ideal | The Steigenberger Senator is Egypt For Travel’s top recommendation for Christmas and New Year honeymooners and anniversary couples. Books 8–12 weeks ahead. 50% deposit required. The 17-suite scale means a genuinely intimate festive experience — the ship never feels crowded. |
