Le Fayan Nile Cruise 2026 — Review, Itinerary & Prices | Fine Dining by Expert Chefs | Only Ship with 7-Night Option | Inaugurated 2011 | from $949
Overview
Bottom line: The Le Fayan is one of the most distinctive luxury Nile cruise ships on the river — a vessel conceived as a fine dining, high-design river cruise experience rather than a conventional cruise ship. Inaugurated in 2011 with a unique contemporary architectural design, Le Fayan’s defining and singular strength is its fine dining restaurant with menus crafted by expert chefs using the freshest, highest-quality ingredients sourced specifically for each departure — a genuine restaurant dining experience, not the standard Nile cruise buffet found on every other ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet. Every other ship serves buffet food; Le Fayan serves fine dining. Alongside this culinary distinction: a spa with two massage beds, sauna, and shower, a modern gym with the latest equipment, a swimming pool and modern sundeck, an outdoor dining option on the sundeck, vegetarian and special dietary menus, and the only 7-night itinerary available in Egypt For Travel’s fleet — from Aswan. Four cabin categories (Deluxe Room, Junior Suite, Family Suite, Presidential Suite) give guests precise accommodation choice. At $949 on the Thursday/Monday departure schedule, Le Fayan is the correct ship for anyone who believes the food on a Nile cruise should be as remarkable as the temples outside.

Is Le Fayan Worth It?
Yes — unequivocally, if dining quality matters on the Nile. Le Fayan is the only ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet that serves fine dining rather than buffet. Every other ship in the fleet — from $549 to $1,549 — serves standard Nile cruise buffet: competent, reliable, but not distinctive. Le Fayan is the only ship where menus are crafted by expert chefs using quality-sourced ingredients, the menu changes between meal sittings, and dinner is a restaurant occasion rather than a cafeteria line. For travelers who have ever felt that the temples outside the window deserved better company on the plate, Le Fayan is the answer. Its contemporary 2011 design creates a visual identity unlike any other ship on the river. The 7-night itinerary from Aswan — unique in the fleet — allows seven evenings of fine dining on the Nile, a genuinely extraordinary experience. The spa, modern gym, swimming pool and sundeck, and free Wi-Fi throughout complete a comprehensive premium offering at $949 on the Thursday/Monday schedule.
Who Is Le Fayan Best For?
- Food-focused and gastronomically adventurous travelers who want fine dining as part of the Nile cruise experience. For guests who cook seriously, dine at quality restaurants, or who travel partly for culinary reasons, the Le Fayan’s fine dining restaurant transforms every meal on the cruise. The menu changes between sittings, includes both international cuisine and refined Egyptian cooking, and reflects ingredient quality and cooking attention that no other ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet delivers. This is not a marginal improvement on the buffet standard — it is a completely different hospitality model for dining on the Nile.
- Couples on a design-led luxury holiday who value contemporary interior design over classic river cruise décor. Le Fayan’s 2011 contemporary design creates a hotel-on-water aesthetic — modern, clean-lined, and visually distinctive from conventional Nile cruise ships. For guests who want their cruise ship to feel architecturally current, Le Fayan is the correct choice at $949.
- Travelers wanting the 7-night option from Aswan. Le Fayan is the only ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet that offers a 7-night itinerary. The 7-night cruise from Aswan includes the complete Luxor–Aswan temple circuit at a more leisurely pace, with additional time at each site and the option for the Sound & Light Show at Karnak, a hot air balloon over Luxor at dawn, and a Nubian village visit by speedboat. Seven evenings of fine dining on the Nile is a singular experience. Contact Egypt For Travel for current 7-night pricing and departure dates.
- Spa-focused travelers who want massage beds, sauna, and shower available daily alongside a fine dining culinary programme. The combination of serious food and serious wellness at $949 on the Thursday schedule is available only on the Le Fayan.
- Guests with dietary requirements including vegetarian and special diet needs. Le Fayan’s fine dining kitchen is equipped and practiced at accommodating non-standard dietary requirements — a capability the buffet model on other ships handles less precisely. Contact Egypt For Travel at booking to confirm dietary requirements.
Who Should NOT Book Le Fayan?
- If nightly entertainment — Galabia party, belly dancing show, folklore performances — is a priority, Le Fayan focuses on fine dining and quiet luxury rather than entertainment programming. Consider the Monica ($699) on the Monday schedule for comprehensive entertainment-led evenings on a higher-capacity ship.
- If a private walk-out veranda in every cabin as standard is essential, the M/S Mayfair ($999, Mon/Fri) is the only ship delivering this feature as standard across all cabin categories, on a different departure schedule.
- If the Thursday/Monday schedule does not suit the travel dates and the Monday/Friday calendar is required, the Esmeralda ($949, Mon/Fri) offers a French balcony in every cabin and a library at the same price on the Monday schedule.
Egypt For Travel Expert Assessment
"Le Fayan is the ship for guests who care deeply about what is on their plate. The fine dining restaurant is the real differentiator — not as a marketing claim but as an operational reality. The chefs on Le Fayan work with ingredient quality and menu ambition that no other ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet brings to the table. For a food-loving couple who wants to eat exceptionally well while watching the temples of ancient Egypt pass outside the window — Le Fayan is the only answer in the fleet. Inaugurated in 2011 with a contemporary design that still feels modern, it holds its own against significantly more expensive ships. The 7-night itinerary is the most ambitious and rewarding Nile cruise experience we offer."

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Le Fayan’s dining different from other Nile cruise ships?
Le Fayan operates a fine dining restaurant with menus crafted by expert chefs using the highest quality ingredients sourced specifically for each departure — not the standard pre-prepared Nile cruise buffet that every other ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet serves. The menu changes between meal sittings and includes dishes that reflect both international cuisine and refined Egyptian cooking. Vegetarian and special dietary options are available and prepared with the same kitchen attention as the standard menu. Le Fayan’s dining is modelled on the fine dining standard of boutique luxury hotels rather than the volume catering of standard river cruise ships. For travelers who consider dinner an important part of the travel experience rather than simply fuel for the next temple visit, this distinction is fundamental. No other ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet at any price point delivers this standard: the Le Fayan is categorically different in its culinary approach.
What is included in the Le Fayan 7-night itinerary?
The 7-night Le Fayan cruise from Aswan includes the complete Luxor–Aswan temple circuit visited over a more leisurely 8-day schedule, giving more time at each site and reducing the intensity of the temple visit programme compared to the standard 3 or 4-night cruises. Additional optional excursions available on the 7-night itinerary include the Sound & Light Show at Karnak Temple in the evening, a hot air balloon over Luxor at dawn, and a Nubian village visit by speedboat. The fine dining experience across 7 consecutive evenings on the Nile is the most extended culinary Nile cruise available in Egypt For Travel’s fleet — Le Fayan is the only ship that offers this. Contact Egypt For Travel for current 7-night pricing and available departure dates from Aswan: WhatsApp +20 155 555 2466 or email [email protected].
How does Le Fayan compare to the Esmeralda and the Amwaj at a similar price?
Le Fayan ($949), the Esmeralda ($949), and the Amwaj ($749) are three distinct luxury ships at different price points on different schedules. Choose Le Fayan ($949, Thu/Mon) if: Dining quality is the primary criterion — the fine dining restaurant on Le Fayan is the only one of its kind in the fleet. A 7-night itinerary from Aswan is of interest. Contemporary 2011 design and a curated, quiet luxury experience are valued. The Thursday/Monday schedule suits the travel dates. Choose the Esmeralda ($949, Mon/Fri) if: The Monday schedule is preferred. A French balcony in every cabin is the priority. A library on board and nightly entertainment are valued over fine dining. Choose the Amwaj ($749, Thu/Mon) if: The same Thursday/Monday schedule is preferred at $200 less. An open-air Jacuzzi on the deck and a 4-tier suite range are the priorities over dining quality. Contact Egypt For Travel on WhatsApp +20 155 555 2466 to discuss which ship best matches the travel priorities.
Does Le Fayan cater for vegetarian and special dietary requirements?
Yes — Le Fayan explicitly offers vegetarian and special diet menus as part of its fine dining programme. Because Le Fayan operates a chef-driven kitchen rather than a standard buffet, special dietary requirements can be accommodated with the same kitchen care as the main menu. This is meaningfully different from the buffet-format dietary accommodation on other ships, where guests with restrictions select from what is available rather than having their requirements catered for specifically. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs should be confirmed with Egypt For Travel at booking so the Le Fayan kitchen team can prepare accordingly. Contact Egypt For Travel on WhatsApp +20 155 555 2466 before departure to discuss specific requirements.

About Le Fayan
Le Fayan is a luxury Nile cruise ship inaugurated in 2011 with a distinctive contemporary architectural design, operating on the Thursday/Monday departure schedule between Luxor and Aswan. Its defining feature is a fine dining restaurant with expert chefs, quality-sourced ingredients, and menus that change between sittings — the only ship of its kind in Egypt For Travel’s fleet. Le Fayan offers four accommodation categories (Deluxe Room, Junior Suite, Family Suite, Presidential Suite), a spa with two massage beds and sauna, a modern gym, swimming pool and sundeck, outdoor dining, vegetarian and special diet menus, free Wi-Fi, and the only 7-night itinerary available in Egypt For Travel’s fleet. Egypt For Travel holds Egyptian Tourism Authority Licence Category A No. 1947 and has operated Nile cruise bookings since 2010. Le Fayan is bookable through Egypt For Travel — all cruises operated directly, not subcontracted.
Why Le Fayan’s Fine Dining Matters
Every other ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet of 48 Nile cruise ships — from the standard category at $549 to the ultra luxury at $1,549 — serves a standard buffet at every meal. The buffet model is the universal norm of Nile cruise dining: food is prepared in bulk, set out on a heated display, and guests collect what they wish from a shared line. This is competent and reliable, but it is fundamentally a volume catering model. The Le Fayan’s fine dining restaurant is a different hospitality model entirely. Expert chefs craft menus for each departure, source ingredients at quality level, prepare dishes to order, and change the menu between meal sittings so that the 7-night experience does not repeat itself. Guests are served at the table; they choose from a menu. The standard of cooking, plating, and service reflects a boutique hotel restaurant rather than a cruise ship cafeteria. This is the only fine dining experience available on any Nile cruise ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet. For travelers for whom dinner matters — who plan evenings around restaurants, who travel partly for cuisine, who would be disappointed by another buffet — Le Fayan is the only correct choice on the Nile at $949.
Le Fayan Prices
All Le Fayan rates are quoted in US dollars per person per trip. Payments are also accepted in Euro (EUR) and British Pounds (GBP) at the current exchange rate. Prices vary between summer (May–September) and winter (October–April) seasons and by cabin category (Deluxe Room, Junior Suite, Family Suite, Presidential Suite). A 50% deposit applies for Christmas, New Year, and Easter departures. 7-night pricing from Aswan is available separately — contact Egypt For Travel for current rates: WhatsApp +20 155 555 2466 or email [email protected]. The Presidential Suite books out well in advance of peak Thursday departures (October–February).
