Is the Farah Nile Cruise Worth It?
Yes — for the guest who wants the absolute finest, the Farah delivers things no other ship on the Nile does. The panoramic sliding windows that open fully are the single most distinctive feature on any Nile cruise ship at any price. On the vast majority of ships on the river — including ships at $999 — the panoramic cabin windows are fixed glass. You see the Nile, but you cannot open the window. On the Farah, every cabin window is a full sliding opening: when you slide it open, the Nile enters your cabin through sight, sound, and scent simultaneously — the sound of water against the hull, the scent of the irrigated banks and the desert beyond, the warmth of Egyptian air replacing the air-conditioned interior. This is being genuinely on the river, not watching it through glass. The free gymnasium, steam room, and sauna at $1,299 are a statement about what this ship considers standard for all guests. The complete on-board water purification station treating every drop of water on the ship tells you what standard the Farah holds itself to. The on-board hairdresser is a detail found on almost no other Nile cruise ship. The automatic fire alarm and sprinkler system in every individual cabin reflects a safety investment above industry norms. At $1,299, nothing on the Nile River compares.
Who Is the Farah Best For?
- Ultra luxury travelers who have experienced standard and premium ships and want genuinely the finest available on the Monday/Friday schedule. The panoramic sliding windows are not a hotel marketing metaphor — they are a full mechanical sliding opening that fundamentally changes the on-board experience.
- Royal suite travelers for whom only the two most exclusive cabins on the most exclusive ship will do. With only 2 royal suites on the Farah — and the Farah being Egypt For Travel’s highest-price standard cruise ship — these are the rarest and most sought-after accommodation in the entire fleet. They book weeks ahead in peak season.
- Wellness-focused guests who want free gymnasium, steam room, and sauna as an absolute standard — not as chargeable extras. The Farah’s free gym, steam room, and sauna for all guests at $1,299 is a philosophy, not a convenience: guests at this level should have unrestricted access to all wellness facilities without supplementary fees.
- Water quality-conscious travelers, including those with health conditions, those traveling with young children, and those who simply value knowing that every drop of drinking water, cooking water, and bathroom water on the ship passes through a complete on-board water purification station.
- Travelers on longer Egypt itineraries who value having an on-board hairdresser during a multi-day voyage — a facility found on almost no other Nile cruise ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet.
- Safety-conscious travelers — particularly families with children, older travelers, and anyone for whom engineering and safety standards matter — who value the Farah’s automatic fire alarm and sprinkler system fitted in every individual cabin, alongside smoke detectors throughout the ship.
Who Should NOT Book the Farah?
- If $1,299 is over budget but you want a private veranda in every cabin on the Monday/Friday schedule, the M/S Mayfair ($999) is the award-winning alternative — private veranda as standard, bathtub in every cabin, at $300 per person less.
- If $1,299 is over budget but a French balcony, library, and nightly entertainment are the priorities, the Esmeralda ($949) offers these features at $350 per person less.
- If a Jacuzzi installed directly in every cabin bathroom is the specific goal, the Sonesta St. George ($1,549, Thu/Mon) is the only ship in the fleet offering this feature. The Sonesta St. George also offers the highest price and highest specification in the fleet — at $250 more than the Farah on a different departure schedule.
- If a boutique suite-only experience with maximum 40 guests and a doctor on call 24 hours is the priority, the MS Terramar ($999, Mon/Fri) offers an entirely different character: 20 suites only, Aurora Senses amenities, 2025 renovation, at $300 less.
Egypt For Travel Expert Assessment
"The Farah is the ship that makes even our most experienced travelers pause. The sliding windows at $1,299 are extraordinary — not a hinged tilt, not a fixed panorama, but a full sliding opening that makes the Nile genuinely part of the cabin. The free steam room and sauna are not a marketing claim: they reflect a philosophy that guests paying at this level should have unrestricted wellness access, not chargeable supplements. The complete water purification station tells you everything about the standards this ship holds itself to. The on-board hairdresser, the automatic fire alarm and sprinkler in every cabin, the 2 royal suites — on the Farah, nothing has been left as an afterthought. For guests who want the very best on the Nile River on Monday departures: this is it."

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Farah’s sliding windows different from windows on other Nile cruise ships?
On the vast majority of Nile cruise ships — including ships priced at $999 — the panoramic cabin windows are fixed glass. You can see the Nile, but you cannot open the window. On the Farah, every cabin window is a panoramic sliding window that opens fully. When you slide the window open, the complete sensory experience of the Nile enters the cabin simultaneously: the sound of water against the hull as the ship moves south, the distinctive scent of the Nile’s irrigated banks and the desert beyond them, and the warmth of Egyptian air replacing the air-conditioned interior. This is the experience of being genuinely on the river — not watching it through glass. For guests who want to be on the Nile rather than beside it, the panoramic sliding windows on the Farah are the single most transformative feature available on any standard cruise ship on the river at any price.
Why is free gym, steam room, and sauna significant at $1,299?
At $1,299 per person, the Farah includes its gymnasium, steam room, and sauna at no additional charge for all guests throughout the cruise. This is not a trivial inclusion: on many Nile cruise ships priced from $599 to $899, spa and wellness use is either charged per session or restricted to specific hours. The Farah’s philosophy is that guests paying at this level should have unrestricted access to all wellness facilities without supplementary fees. Combined with the complete on-board water purification station, the on-board hairdresser, the massage room, and the automatic fire alarm and sprinkler system in every cabin, the free gym, steam room, and sauna are part of a consistent approach: comprehensive inclusion rather than selective premium service. For wellness-focused travelers, the Farah is the only ship in Egypt For Travel’s fleet that includes all three wellness facilities — gym, steam room, and sauna — without charge.
What are the 2 royal suites on the Farah and how do they differ from the standard opulent cabins?
The Farah’s 2 royal suites are the most exclusive accommodation available on Egypt For Travel’s most exclusive standard cruise ship. With only 2 royal suites total on a ship of 62 rooms, they are the rarest accommodation in the entire Egypt For Travel fleet. Each royal suite features the same panoramic sliding windows as all cabins, a private bathroom with bathtub, LCD TV with internet connection, individual air conditioning control, private safe deposit box, and minibar — in a significantly larger space than the 60 standard opulent cabins. The elevated space and position on the ship make them the natural choice for honeymooners, anniversary couples, and any guest who wants the very finest on the finest ship. The 2 royal suites book many weeks ahead in peak season (October–April). Contact Egypt For Travel as early as possible to check availability: WhatsApp +20 155 555 2466 or email [email protected].
Farah vs Sonesta St. George — which ultra luxury Nile cruise should I choose?
Both the Farah ($1,299, Mon/Fri) and the Sonesta St. George ($1,549, Thu/Mon) are Egypt For Travel’s ultra luxury Nile cruise ships, but they offer different signature features and sail on different schedules. Choose the Farah ($1,299, Mon/Fri) if: Monday departure from Luxor is required. Panoramic sliding windows that open fully are the priority feature. Free gym, steam room, and sauna for all guests matter. A water purification station and on-board hairdresser are valued. $1,299 is the preferred investment. Choose the Sonesta St. George ($1,549, Thu/Mon) if: Thursday departure from Luxor is required. A Jacuzzi installed directly in every cabin bathroom is the single most important feature. French-style interior design and the highest overall specification in the fleet are priorities. $250 extra per person is within budget. Contact Egypt For Travel and we will match you to the right ship for your schedule and priorities.

Why Panoramic Sliding Windows Matter on a Nile Cruise
The window technology on a Nile cruise ship is not a minor specification detail — it determines the fundamental relationship between the guest and the river for the entire cruise. On the vast majority of ships on the Nile, cabin windows are fixed glass. The view is beautiful, but the experience is passive: you observe the river from behind the glass, sealed from its sensory reality by air conditioning and the window frame. On the Farah, every cabin window is a panoramic sliding window that opens fully. When open, the Nile enters the cabin not as a visual experience only, but as a complete sensory one: the sound of water moving against the hull; the distinctive scent of the irrigated Nile banks and the desert cliffs beyond them; the warmth of Egyptian air; the natural humidity of the river. This is a different experience of the Nile — not scenic, but physical. Waking at dawn, opening the sliding window, and watching the light come across the water and the desert cliffs from your own bed, with the sounds and scents of the river filling the cabin — this is the moment that defines the Farah experience and why no other ship on the Nile at any price offers this as a standard feature in every cabin.
Farah Nile Cruise Prices
All Farah Nile Cruise rates are quoted in US dollars per person per trip. Payments are also accepted in Euro (EUR) and British Pounds (GBP) at the current exchange rate.
